Because an innocent man would not have hidden in a boat while he was bleeding out without searching for a hospital. If this man were truly innocent he would have called fro cease of fire during the gunfight instead of responding with firing of his own. Although they had proof that he was guilty there is still a chance that he could have been forced to by a group of people, criminals, or terrorists.

They believe that their sons are innocent and they have a piece of information that could help their children but the boys do not want their parents to tell. The parents believe that the information they know could make their son's experience more pleasant. The boys must be caught up in a group where if they or anybody else that knew were to snitch they would be hunted down and murdered, tortured, or slaughtered.
