Beyonce's “Formation” Primarily, one has to mention that every video released by Beyonce in controversial and unique. Besides, “Formation” is also not the exception as it is lined to the ethnically issue of black individuals as well as personal moral experiences of the singer (Beyonce). Analysis
The video is important for me because it is linked to slavery, racial discrimination and prejudice on the grounds of race. Everything - dances and old-fashioned clothing and hairstyles - in the video-clip tries to show the stereotypes that whites possess regarding blacks. One may also find the graffiti that claims: “Stop Shooting Us” and; therefore, implies that racism is to be stopped. Besides, to my mind, “Formation” may be defined as the personal statement of the singer, who understands her place within the society and desires to change the existing situation in the world. To add more, one may state that the video is controversial due to the number of ethical issues that are portrayed in the video. One may find black people dressed like white during the time of slavery and also the view the strong bond of sistership between the black ladies. Beyonce shows the significance of black community staying together (as it was showed in the church; when black females are dancing and when police listen to a small black kid).
