All of which are things that have done the same to me when it comes to the barbell. I used to be a football player in high school, and then after high school I found myself no longer athletically active, and athletics has always been something I have been passionate about and enjoyed throughout school. A few years later I discovered CrossFit and doing that I fell in love with the passion of working out. Doing competitions and just constantly working out daily especially with a barbell became the best part of my days. Everyone in any kind of community like CrossFit or men’s barbell clubs and many others always will say to you that you release a lot of stress through using barbells. Barbells have been around for hundreds of years. They actually originate from different kinds of church bells in the 1700s. Hence how there are so many different movements involved in the barbell more than mentioned. There are even tons of communities that involve the use of the barbell like CrossFit, Powerlifting, Strongmen, Body Builders, all of which are built around the ability of using a barbell. There are at least over 30 different kinds of movement with the barbell, which all stemmed from different thoughts and ideas at how to isolate different muscles. Which why I believe that John Dewey’s cognitive theory is a direct example of how art can express more and more thoughts or idea on how to get different uses out of a single piece of art.
