When I was walking through the freshmen halls, I thought that I was ready for all the stuff that going to happen throughout the four years of hell. Well to start out, I was attending band camp over the summer and we were working on our band show so school already started for me since July, two months before school actually started. Band camp was not difficult, but sweaty and just exhausting during the early morning hours. We would then have an hour of lunch, after that we separate the sections and had section meeting where we study the music and play it and also to discuss things about band. I was in marching and jazz band for 2 years in high school, but I started playing the trumpet since I was a 6th grader.During 7th grade I signed up for jazz and I loved it. …show more content…
Algebra was easy for me, but world history got to me. I failed that class for the whole year so I didn't really get to enjoy my last year in band. Sophomore was always failing and I missed so many opportunities to be spotted as a jazz musician. One thing that also distracted me the most was how much denial I had when I found out that my Mom was getting sick. It was just a horrible year. I hated this year because who life started tumbling downwards and I knew I had to do something about

"This life is a precious gift." The Lonely Island Band captures the essence of life for the youthful and daring or the aging and reckless. I enjoy being around family and friends. The ones I had a harder time with were Spanish and the classes that I felt neutral about. The trend cooperate with my life because in the 9th my sister was always checking up on me seeing if I was caught up in my classes (she was a junior at the time) and if I needed help I could go to her. The 10th grade came and she didn't really have time to…

Adrenaline ran through my veins all day, and Disney references spilling out of my mouth like a broken record in a player. No one else accepted my elation, but I on the other hand, had a countdown down for this jaunt as soon as I heard of it in August. As I sat down on the dirty, sweaty gym floor like the rest of the band, I began to process everything that was happening. In 26 hours, 48 minutes, and 28 seconds, according to my countdown, the entire high school band would be in Orlando, Florida. In four days time, our provincial marching band would be featured marching in a parade in the Magic Kingdom of the happiest place on earth!…

I started talking to my band director about the different options I had to reach my goal. She had enough faith in me to recommend starting another instrument. Typically most clarinet players add the saxophone because of the similarities, but I was captivated by another instrument, the trumpet. In the summer of 2010 I began taking lessons on the trumpet through a private instructor and loved it. I was able to audition into the highest level jazz band that school year.…

Memoir Rough Draft While everyone starts to complain about school starting, I was already at school before August for marching band. Day in and day out, all of us worked our hardest, having fun, helping out, and getting to know each other well. It was hot, many times over a hundred degrees, although sometimes it felt worse, as if we were getting baked in the warm sun rays. However, we were there for a purpose, and we all shared a common goal, a dream, to become better as a marching band. Of course we were exhausted, after long hours, but I owe my life to band for making me who I am.…

This year has been a crazy one. I came from a public school, not knowing anyone, so I terrified and didn't know what to expect. I struggled with trusting others, time management and battling multiple tasks at once. Luckily, I had a lot of practice throughout the year. For instance when we had to record a News Show for Mr.Mora's class, I was faced with all of these problems.…

"Good better best, never let it rest, 'till your good is better and your better is best." These simple words were spoken to me by my high school band director Cheldon Williams on the first day of my high school experience. This, followed by my experience of marching band and my eventual learning of piano sparked a period of introspective thought, and mental growth, that transcended to where I am today. Never in my life did I think my hard work and dedication inspired by Mr. Williams words would land me at Interlochen Center for the Performing Arts Boarding School. These words became a core part of what I am, and from freshman year on would encourage me to never set a limit on my potential, and my overall worth.…

Coming out of fifth grade, I didn’t know what music really was. It just seemed like a bunch of guys playing a plethora of notes in my opinion. It still does.…
