Formed in 1920, QANTAS, the Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Ltd, is Australia's national carrier; and has been for nearly a century. They are one of the largest and oldest airlines in the world as well as Australia’s and the Asia-Pacific’s region number one airline. Since their founding, the company has experienced highs and lows but still remains one of Australia’s most recognisable icons.
In 1992 the airline was privatised; with implementing of the Qantas Sale Act. From 2002 and 2006 the company launched an array of secondary, low cost airlines including ‘Jetstar’ and ‘Australian Airlines’, however, Australian Airlines ceased operations in 2006. In 2008 Alan Joyce was appointed the CEO and Managing Director
