NHS choices (2016) states that there no known causes for asthma. But there are number of things that can cause asthma. These may include:
• Family history of asthma or related to allergic condition such as food allergy, high fever or eczema – if you come from an asthmatic family the chances of developing asthma are high or it`s in the genes.
• Having a bronchiolitis – it’s a lung infection common in young children.
• Having another atopic condition, yourself – if you have an allergy condition like eczema, food allergy or hay fever you are at higher risk of getting asthma.
• Children who are exposed to tobacco smoke at a young age.
• Pregnant women who smokes puts their child at danger of getting asthma.

• Upper airways infection such as cold and flu can cause asthma.
• Allergic conditions such as pollen, dust miles, animal fur and cockroaches.
• Airborne irritants including cigarette smoke, air pollution, chemicals or dust hair sprays.
