There are many different positions on should Marijuana be legal this a controversial topic. Whether it is for medical reasons, illegalization, socializing, obtaining a high, or escaping depression; marijuana has impacted humans in a lively manner. Usually people are either fully against it or fully for it. People support Marijuana for various reasons from medical reasons to recreational reasons. People that are against legalization tend to be against it for the same reason, they think it is medically unhealthy and recreationally mind altering and dangerous. People believe that the main basis of agreement should be on medical values. There many studies and scientific research to back up the medical advantages of Marijuana. …show more content…
Studies show that more people abused prescription medicine than medicinal marijuana. Marijuana has already been proven to be an effective treatment for glaucoma and Alzheimer’s. Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in the United States. Chemotherapy is a process used to treat some types of cancer. How does it do this? It involves pouring radiation directly into the patient’s body. The radiation has side-effects, and in extreme cases, the side-effects can be even worse than the cancer itself. Marijuana, however, is a consistently effective treatment for many of these side-effects. For example, the radiation caused many cancer patients to lose their appetite. This can lead them to become malnourished and starve. Marijuana does just the opposite. It produces hunger, returning the cancer patients’ appetites and allowing them to consume the food they need to live …show more content…
Marijuana simply has no good reason to be illegal. It is important medicinally, it is already taken in moderation by the users, and all its worst negative effects can easily be countered. To bring up another point, it is also incredible for stress relief, and it is also a useful sleep aid to those with trouble sleeping. The drug should be legalized or, if nothing else, decriminalized. Countless people have been thrown in jail for possession of small amounts of one of the least harmful drugs, and some have even received life sentences for it! The criminalization of marijuana is more of a crime than the use of marijuana is itself. Marijuana is a pleasure drug with minimal harmful impacts, that also has important medicinal values, and people can be thrown in jail for mere possession of it. The drug needs to be legalized. This is simple fact the government and jails are overcrowded for crimes that could potentially not even happen if it was legal. Marijuana should be tax and fine and have penalties.
