Animal Testing Is Bad

Improved Essays
In a website about animal testing, there are several facts that are named, such as these: more than 100 Million animals in US labs around the country are abused, poisoned, burned, and crippled every year. Also, 92% of the experimental drugs that scientists use on animals, are safe and effective for the animals but do not work for humans because they are too dangerous or they did not work. Animal testing is just awful to do because animals do not need to experience so much pain. Scientists should stop testing animals because it is cruel to animals and animals do not deserve to be treated so badly, and animal lives do not need to be put at risk in order to test something.

They think animals should be tested, because they really do not have rights, and we can do whatever we want to do to animals. Frankie L. Trull says in a 2015 newspaper about animal testing and it’s gift to humans, “Before human trials began, the re-engineered virus was injected into the brains of macaque monkeys, whose systems operate similarly to those of humans” (Trull 4). Scientists used monkeys for this experiment because they are a lot like us humans, so they used them to test these different things before exposing them to humans. However, animals do still feel pain and distress, and nobody should let them suffer. John Hart states, opposing this argument, in an article from 2010 about animals and what they have on humans, “Animal rights, properly understood, is a rigid belief system that says people have no right to domesticate animals, because what matters most in terms of moral value is the ability to feel pain and suffer” (Hart 4). Animals still do understand what pain is, even though they probably do not recognize it while it’s happening. There’s still a handful of people that think that it is okay to test animals, but, it’s wrong and animals are suffering and even dying everyday because of it.
Animals do not deserve to be treated so badly, and animal lives do not need to be put at risk in order to test something, are two of the many reasons that Scientists should stop testing animals. When people are at the store, they should avoid buying products that have been tested on by animals to try and prevent this from happening. Animals are different than people anyway, so having them test things for us is really not necessary. Also, animals lives are important to a lot of people, and to watch them suffer or even die is just

People, especially scientists, are hurting innocent animals that did no harm to anyone. Animal testing shouldn't be allowed to happen because animals are getting hurt, they are not protected, and animals get mistreated. One reason that animal testing shouldn’t be allowed is because animals are getting hurt. For instance, the Draize eye test involves rabbits having their eyelids clipped open for as long as multiple days so that they don’t blink the product being tested away. Popular cosmetic brands like L'oreal, Lancome, Estee Lauder, and S.C. Johnson are used on animals.…

After enduring a life of terror and pain almost all test subjects will be killed, if they do not die during the experiment (Animal Testing 101.) Animals do not deserve a life of suffering and pain just because humans might gain some knowledge about medicine or beauty products. With the number of effective alternatives that are available, animal testing should be put to an end. When it comes to the life, safety, and wellbeing of animals where do you…

It is unfair and cruel that we test on these defenseless animals for the sake of human safety. Animal testing should be stopped because it is inhumane, it’s bad science, and there are different methods of testing. Humans have been testing and/or experimenting on animals since the BC times. In the article Animal Testing and Medicine, written by Rachel Hajar, M.D. she explains to us the history of medicine and how animal testing has evolved over time. Early Greek Physician-Scientists like Aristotle and Erasistratus have performed experiments on living animals.…

Though I believe animal testing is cruel and unethical, it is currently the single most accurate option. Inarguably, scientific research has led to countless breakthroughs and saved millions of lives. Ultimately, the harsh treatments endured by animals is highly wrong, but this research still remains vital for treating and curing diseases. Animal testing plays a crucial role in sustaining the human race and without it, many of us would not be alive today.…

The author Jerrold Tannenbaum has gone and researched what pain and morality in animal testing means. He has noted on how in many experiments, the whole purpose is to see if a product is harmful and not exposing the animal to pain refutes the whole reasoning of the experiment (Tannenbaum). The experiments are deliberately made to see if a product causes harm. Same could be said with research on illnesses, because these animals have to have said illnesses to be able to be studied on. Moreover, the animals used have a significantly lower life span than humans.…

There are many harmful toxins and ingredients in the testing materials that they use that can cause harm to animals. Even though the researchers try to minimize the pain, they aren’t able to completely prevent pain from occurring. Animals are not capable of making decisions for themselves so they have to suffer through a life of pain and torture. They are being kept away from the natural world, where they belong. They are seen as subjects, not animals.…

This is for 3 valid reasons: because they can’t choose for themselves if they want to be tested on, it is potentially very painful for the poor animals, and our brains are very, very different than their brains. While yes, you could argue that these tests are in fact for the benefit of humanity, however, you must be totally honest with yourself, could you willingly perform a “scientific test” on an animal? Or would you want it done to…

Why Animal Testing Should Be Banned Everyday innocent animals are being forced into labs and tested for human research advancement. Cruelty Free International states how approximately 115 million animals, including rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, mice, dogs and monkeys are used in dangerous laboratory experiments every year. In fact, many of the experiments are said to be useless tests, as stated, “The reality is that the majority of animal experiments do not contribute to improving human health, and the value of the role that animal experimentation plays in most medical advances is questionable” (“Animal Testing is Bad Science”). Misconceptions by the media may stretch the idea how animal testing can cure diseases, illnesses etc.. But actually, as emphasized, animal testing is an inefficient way of finding medical advances, making the procedures to be unnecessary and making there be no reason to force animals into labs without a choice, it's blatantly a waste of animals lives.…

Animals can still feel pain, even though they can’t convey these feelings through language. The pros and cons behind animal testing challenges the question of whether or not animals should be used for scientific or commercial testing. People believe that animals should have more rights in regard to animal testing because they can still feel pain. The main animals that are used for testing are mice, rats, rabbis, primates, cats and dogs. The mistreatment originates from the animals being locked in small cages, and then tested on which includes poisoning and other forms of abuse.…

My opinion matters and so does yours! I think that animal testing is wrong and cruel and unhealthy for these animals to go through, some of these tests and researches cause pain and can even lead to death for some of these animals. These animals are being tortured, there are many different tests that these animals go through every day that cause them to suffer. Why would you even test an animal, If they will most likely not have the same reaction to the product, the medicine, or the disease. They won't have the same reaction because our immune systems are different, even our skin is different, so why put them through these test that harm these poor animals.…

Though I concede that in some situations, animal testing may be useful, such as in immensely important medical studies, I still maintain that it is unnecessary to make an animal suffer and be discriminated against. Although some people may think that animal testing is healthy and beneficial to humans, I believe that animal testing is unethical and utterly wrong because of the unfair repulsive treatment that animals receive from scientists. This topic is important because the world we live in is as much an animal 's world as it is a human’s world and right now humans are discriminating and enslaving…
