Assessment Notes for Andrew Poirier’s Exploratory Essay on Taoism Given the brevity of the assignment, this essay did an excellent job conveying the core teaching of Taoism. It effectively used quote sandwiches and clear, sophisticated language to aid the reader in grasping subtle, complex concepts. The essay also clearly expresses its purpose of “...decompress(ing) some of the core ideologies that are the integral focuses of Taoism within this essay.” The issues with this essay were all minor and of a technical nature. The only reoccurring transgression was regarding MLA formatting. Most of the MLA issues arose around how to format titles of books and poems. I felt pety commenting on these minor issues, but since the paper was otherwise
