Anchor institutes are enterprises which are firmly rooted in their communities and typically non-profit organizations such as universities and hospitals (Taylor & Luter, 2013). They have a deep seeded interest in their community, to ensure the safety and health of its members, and perseverance of success of their community. As shown by Taylor and Luter, anchor institutes contain four aspects: “spatial immobility, corporate status, size and the anchor mission: social purpose, democracy and justice” (2013). When reviewing the Middleboro Physician Care Services case we learn that it is a for-profit corporation that was founded in 2008 and offers non-emergent care services within two locations. One of them at the Alpha center outside of the city limits of Middleboro and the other is at the Beta center in Jasper. Both of these locations offer ambulatory medical care services that are provided on a walk in basis. These centers do not offer any emergency services, and if a patient were to arrive that needed emergency services and ambulance will be called to transport the patient to the nearest emergency department. Physician Care Services specializes in providing services to the public that are convenient.…

According to Arroyo Fressco (AF) challenges identified by the performance FOCUS framework, it is obvious there is a need to implement and evaluate interventions that would improve AF’s operational efficiency. Financial Performance One of the key strategic challenges is to balance AF’s mission of serving all patients, regardless of their ability to pay or against tight fiscal environments at federal, state, and local levels. Although, AF receives federal section 330 grants from the Public Health Service of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, these funds have not kept pace with growing needs or economic changes within the health care industry. Thus, to remain financial viable in the future, it is recommended that AF focus on,…

While I was at my tour at the William George Agency, I have learned three new things that were related to juveniles. The first thing that I learned on the tour was that the juveniles there on the campus are allowed to participate in athletic sport competitions against other high schools around them, even one of the schools they compete against is a school that’s in my home town. The Impact of the lesson for me was that, knowing the kids from William George school were allowed to play in competitive games against other schools, it gave them a chance to have fun and explore in something new that could possibly grow on them as a new interest that could then pursue them on setting future goals, because I am a firm believer of sports being a gateway…

On the other hand, some people argue that sports in America have too many conflicts with a kids life. In October 2013’s Atlantic cover article, “The Case Against High School Sports,” Amanda Ripley argues that American student-athletes became less educated while playing a certain sport. Low test scores and sports have no correlation to each other; American student-athletes gain many benefits from playing sports after school including increased test scores and lower dropout rates, decrease in risky behavior, and having a competitive attitude in everything they do. Amanda Ripley writes that many countries outperform the United States on international…

As an athlete, I began my journey in sports full of dedication, fire, and hopeful anticipation of what I could do on the football field and on the basketball court. Much of my life has been devoted to extracurricular activities such as sports and the comelec, which taught me hard lessons in ethics and values that have made me who I am today. I not only represented my school varsity, but also sports clubs outside of school, which led me to compete in several local and international tournaments. As well as my passion for sports, I grew into my passion for service; service for others and for my school, partaking in clubs and community service activities, each endeavor playing a role in the development of my abilities and expansion of my potential…

Drug education does make a contribution to drug abuse prevention in college. Back in 1989, not many schools set up a drug education for their student-athletes, but now more and more colleges are emphasizing the use of drugs is not and will not be acceptable. It also talks about how some colleges do not put much work into their approach to drug education and use a simple boring presentation that only bores the student-athletes during the presentation. Drug education can also help those student-athletes that have used drugs and help them understand they need help. The last main point is also found on page 6, “Recommendations for Athlete Drug Education Programs.”…
