Drug education does make a contribution to drug abuse prevention in college. Back in 1989, not many schools set up a drug education for their student-athletes, but now more and more colleges are emphasizing the use of drugs is not and will not be acceptable. It also talks about how some colleges do not put much work into their approach to drug education and use a simple boring presentation that only bores the student-athletes during the presentation. Drug education can also help those student-athletes that have used drugs and help them understand they need help.

Stirs Criticism: [Sports Desk].” Drug Free Sport is the group that drug tests the college school and they only catch about one percent of all the athletes they test. The NCAA has surveyed their athletes, and one in every five has used marijuana, which is one of the drugs tested for. Don Catlin a former head of UCLA’s Olympic Analytical Lab said schools are drug testing, but in his opinion they really are not doing drug testing. The creator for Drug Free Sport, Frank Uryasz, was the man who expanded the NCAA’s drug testing policies. In 2009, the NCAA spent $5.5 million on drug prevention programs and $4.6 million on testing. In 2010-11 they tested 10,735 athletes and only 63 of them came back positive, that less than one percent. That proves that the tests are not very accurate or the athletes know ways around the system. I have heard of several ways to get around the system from friends, movies, TV, or even the internet. I will never have to use those helpful tips because I do not use drugs nor will I ever, but there are several ways to change your test results. Football players are drug tested more frequently, because they have had more violations than any other sport.
