1. Eugene Debs-He was the Socialist candidate for president in election of 1912. He was a labor leader in Pullman Strike and ran for president five times.
2. Pancho Villa-He killed many Americans in both Mexico and United States. He was never captured even though Pershing was sent to do so.
3. John J. Pershing-He was ordered with soldiers to capture Francisco Villa in Mexico. He didn’t capture Villa but crushed several forces of Carranza’s and Villa’s.
4. Central Powers-It included Germany, Austria-Hungary, and later Turkey and Bulgaria. It was the one of the WWI alliances.

Many American were anti-German from the beginning. Germans and Austro-Hungarians used their immigrants in America trying to make American turn against the Allies. The ruler of Germany Kaiser Wilhelm II sent agents to America and destroyed Central Powers’ image when they stirred violence in factories and ports. When one German agent left documents that included plans to destroy American industry, America turned against the Central Power.
11. German Submarine sunk many ships in the war one and promised they would not sink neutral ones. However, they sunk the British liner Lusitania with 128 Americans on it. This stirred up the war-lovers but Wilson kept them down by saying they can be “too proud to fight.” Arabic was sunk with two American and Germany agreed to not sink unarmed ships without warning. Germany violated this agreement when it sunk Sussex, which made Wilson mad and told Germany that he would break diplomatic relations with it if it continued to do so.
12. Republican chose Charles Evans Hughes to be its candidate in election of 1916. Hughes chose different lines in different area of the country so he could get as much votes as possible. Democrats used the slogan "He Kept Us Out of War" to warn that Hughes would bring America into WWI. The East mostly chose Hughes but the Midwest and West were attracted by antiwar policies and chose Wilson. Wilson also received support from bull moosers because Republican didn’t get their votes
