WW1 The real cause of World War I was mostly the different alliances and the growth of armaments. The alliance of the triple entente included Britain, France, and Russia. Then for the triple alliance it included Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy. America ended up coming into the war but came in to help the triple entente. This was not good for the triple alliance because Italy shortly before America came they switched to the triple entente side. Which messed up the original plan for everyone. America came in at the last moment and they were the deciding factor of the war. The underlying cause of World War I was the european alliances (Document A), the growth in armaments (Document C), and the size of colonial empires (Document F). The alliances became a big factor of World War I because it all depended on who you know with a bigger army. The alliances came about in 1914; these alliances were the biggest part of World War I. The Triple Alliance included Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy these countries were the main cause of World War I. “The Triple Alliance: Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy; The Triple Entente: United Kingdom, France, and Russia” (Document A). Later, in the war they had to sign a document that stated they were the main cause. This did not go over well with them, however, they did it anyway because they lost the war and they had to. The Triple Entente included the United Kingdom, France, and Russia according to document a. The Triple Entente was a very strategic alliance by setting it up that germany had two wars at its fronts. This worried Germany tremendously, which is completely justified because if they go down they will go down hard. Especially, when Italy switched sides in 1915. The Triple Entente had a special ethnic tie with Serbia because both countries had Slavic populations. These alliances were ruthless to each other not holding back on military related warfare. In addition, the growth of armaments took a major factor on this war because when one feels threatened it goes do hill from there. This happened especially when America came in and ended the war. When the war began Germany has spent the most money on their military. This was worry some to the opposing side. “ In 1914 germany spent around 100 million on their artillery” (Document C). Even though they have spent a lot of money on the war they still had one of the greatest amount of deaths. This is a result of them spending money on weapons and artillery but not much on training that is stated in document
