The first being daily living skills, which are the skills needed to live independently. Right now the focus is learning to follow recipes, using kitchen appliances, and shopping. These skills are addressed during her Life Skills class where she has the opportunity to learn by doing activities in the kitchen and community. Her second need is Orientation and Mobility where she learns to travel independently and safely. She is lacking the skills, motivation, and cognitive ability to take public transportation. These are skills she works on frequently on her O & M lessons. By encouraging her when she talks with excitement about traveling to a new place using the bus I can positively reinforce these skills. Lastly, Career Education is an important component as she moves into her transition program. She needs to learn the skills and requirements for working. She is finally interested in having a job in the future and has become excited about the possibility of working at her favorite store, a movie store. The skills she still needs help with are money changing and alphabetizing. These are being addressed in her academic classes in a more functional
