The Socialization Theory and, specifically, the Model of Planned Organizational Exit will be the basis for this analysis. The purpose of this paper is to identify why the graduating seniors of SMU Alpha Chi Omega fail to successfully complete the stages of planned organizational exit, despite successfully becoming socialized members, and the ways in which SMU Alpha Chi Omega can fix this problem for future pledge classes. This type of behavior is extremely common in the state of Alabama where southern roots remain strong in communities. This influence reaches even into the social structure of the south’s biggest universities. Although the racism continues to be present in the University of Alabama Greek system, forced integration would only cause harm to the intricate process and all parties involved. Fraternity and Sorority organizations are private with their own bylaws and traditions. There is no reason for these organizations to be regulated by any university.…

After months and months of my ears being flooded with “Zeta this, Gamma Rho that, AKA this, and Delta that,” and my friends telling me that I should pledge Delta because I’m very blunt and have an attitude, I literally thought the whole sorority (sisterhood) and fraternity (brotherhood) thing was stupid and childish. I told myself that I would never be apart of any sisterhood and I would be my own support, and my own organization. However, after continued pestering from my friends about how I should become a Delta because of my fitted Delta personality, I decided to do some research.
