All Summer In A Day

The story “All Summer in a Day” was written by Ray Bradbury, which takes place on Venus. In the story, a child named Margot is bullied because she is different than the others. She is a good different, because she was born on earth and is usually right about facts regarding the sun. One day, she mentions to the other students that the sun will come up today, and the jealous boy and some of his friends don’t think it will. They think she lied to them, so they get angry. Out of this anger they lock her in a closet, because they were jealous. They soon regret their actions because they were wrong and the sun actually came out. Jealousy is a very severe topic in the story “All Summer in a Day,” and hurts both bullies and the main character. Jealousy changes the bully’s perspective of hurting people, and brings sadness to both protagonist and antagonist, which changes their lives from then on.

She was a very unique, and socially awkward girl, who was told to possibly going to go back to earth to have Margot have a better future, although this would cost thousands of dollars from her family. This made the kids angry, with the kids saying things like how they, “Hated her pale snow face, her waiting silence, her thinness, and her possible future.” Further on, on a different day Margot, seemed really happy. She was happy because she heard the scientists saying that the sun was going to come up. They bully hated her acting like she knew everything, and would call her a know-it-all.
