So what is Iowa famous for? Iowa is known throughout the United States as a major contributor to the nation's Agricultural output. Iowa is particularly known for producing corn. Iowa leads in the production of corn and ranks second in the production of soybeans. We also produce some other major field crops like oats and hay, red clover, flaxseed, rye, and wheat. We also have apples, popcorn, and potatoes.
1.3 billion bushels of Iowan corn goes to ethanol production. 339 million bushels are turned into a co-product called DDG (Dried Distillers Grain), which is a high protein, valuable livestock feed. DDG is used for more than just feed for animals. It can be used for food that people eat. 43 percent of Iowa’s corn crop is used for ethanol fuel.

Agriculture in Iowa is important because it provides food for us. Without agriculture in Iowa that would be a ton of people without food. If you really think about that, one farmer feeds one hundred twenty four people. That has grown so much since farmers only feeding twenty six people in the nineteen sixties. Without agriculture, you would put twenty two million people out of work. The people that work on ranches, grow crops, people that work in manufacturing places, and everyone else that works in the agriculture industry. Not having agriculture would be terrible for everyone. Agriculture is important, not only in Iowa but in the United States, in the world. Agriculture is important not only to us but to the world
