Agata Oleksiak, known as Olek, is a Polish-born artist that now lives in New York. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cultural Studies from Mickiewicz University in Poznan. Some of her works include installations, inflatable objects, sculpture, and fiber art. Her exhibits have been seen by various countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Brazil, Italy and much more. The main work she is known for is her fiber art (yarn crochet) using biodegradable yarn. Yarn bombing or displaying her work for all the public to see in a street gallery art performance.

Olek installed her yarn, textile artwork in the underwater museum called Museo Subacuatico de Arte. This is located within an artificial reef away from the Mexican Caribbean Coral Reef. This underwater museum included a series of sculptures by Jason de Caires Taylor. Unfortunately, her yarn sustainable work was allegedly not given permission and apparently her work destroyed the vital organism living on the sculptures she crocheted on. Even though her intentions were positive, she has a pending lawsuit against her. Olek response to the Associated Press, “If they want to sue me, I don’t know.
