Accounting Major Essay

My entire family is made up of teachers, except for me. I always appreciated the invaluable work of teachers, but never wanted to become one. I thought that the true embodiment of an educator was just a teacher, someone who leads by example inside and outside the classroom. I have always been academically inspired to do well in school, however, it was not until being at Stonehill that I found my personal pathway. I strayed from the path of those in my family and chose to be an accounting major. I found myself accepting various opportunities that led me to grow and develop not only as an accountant, but an educator. Stonehill has shown me all the ways I am an educator, even if I am not a teacher.
After taking both Financial and Managerial Accounting, I was asked to be a TA for both classes. I work alongside my professors to provide the support and knowledge the students need to be successful. As an Accounting tutor at the Center for Writing and Academic Achievement, I work one-on-one with students to help them understand the material and develop their skills. I try to supplement their knowledge of the subject with pertinent skills that I have learned by focusing on growth and understanding. I attend tutor training sessions to obtain my CRLA (College Reading and Learning

These events provided an abundance of opportunities to learn about the accounting industry and network with experienced professionals. Unfortunately, only juniors and seniors would attend these events, most of which had internships or jobs. After a year as a member and learning about all the accounting firms and graduate schools that recruited at Stonehill, I decided to take a leadership role as V.P. of Professional Activities. My hope is to expose underclassmen as early as possible to the vast amount of opportunities and to encourage them to think about their own personal

    2. Why did you decide to become a teacher? Both of my parents are teachers, so growing up there was one thing that I knew for sure: that I was not going to follow in their footsteps. I had dreams of dressing up and working in an office. When I got to college this idea for my future led me to get a degree in communication, with the hopes of working in marketing or public relations.…

Mentors and professionals need to approach students early on in high school before they have a set idea about what accounting is like. (Taylor Research & Consulting Group) The study found that 57% of college students became seriously interested in a particular profession prior to college. To increase awareness in this way, the profession should consider creating more summer development programs, internship opportunities, and student charters of professional organizations. In these programs, firms and organizations can attract, develop, and retain young professionals, especially in underrepresented minority groups, and guide them through the meaningful steps to access the profession.…

I chose to pursue a teaching career for middle school because I feel that children are at that age where they are interested in everything. They want to know more than what they learned when they were in elementary school and that makes me excited for them. I remember when I was younger when I first told my parents that I wanted to become a teacher because my seventh grade math teacher had the greatest influence on me, and I remember them telling me that becoming a teacher would be a mistake because they didn’t make much money. To this very day, I believe that if you want to become a teacher it’s because you have a big heart and you’re not in it for the income but for the outcome. Hard work and determination will allow me to pay for the things that I want in life, such as my dream house, and children, vacations, cars, and more…

Most people change their career decisions multiple times before they actually pick a final job, but I never had an interest in anything other than being a teacher. I have always connected with younger kids over high school or middle school children, which is why I chose to major in Early Childhood Education. I believe that teachers have the ability not only change the world, but improve it. I want to become a teacher because seeing that light bulb go off and seeing the looks on the student’s faces when they get a problem is a great feeling. Many kids are ignored at home or even bullied at home and I want to make all those children feel wanted and to know that someone is there for them and truly does care about them.…

1 I come from a long line of educators and administrators on both sides of my family. Various relatives of mine have taught me to understand and appreciate the importance of education. This being the case, they have inspired my decision to be a teacher, preferably an elementary school teacher. Last year, I sat in on my aunt’s third grade class at Washington Irving, an elementary school in my district that I attended for three years. After visiting the classroom a handful of times, I absolutely fell in love.…

Research on financial knowledge and behavior indicates individuals in both developed and developing countries lack adequate knowledge to make informed financial decisions, especially subgroups like the young, women, and the less educated. When resorting to financial education programs, we can’t clearly figure out their efficiency. To expand our knowledge on the topic, we propose a financial education program with the treatment effect to test out its impacts on financial behaviors of young people. With long-term implementation, we hope to largely increase financial knowledge of young people and to shed light onto the effect in the long run. Facts about Financial Literacy Financial knowledge is especially important in times where increasingly…

I mentioned earlier that my seventh grade English, to be specific, teacher influence myself to become a teacher. I realized how she taught her students and engaged them in learning, and ever since then I have took note to how all my teachers teach so I could prepare myself for my future. I always love helping my younger peers with their homework and playing the imaginary game “School” with my brothers and friends. I would declare myself as the teacher and make up imaginary lessons to teach, but lessons that would reflect what I was currently learning or what my pretend students were learning in their true classrooms at school.…

Becoming an educator is one the noblest professions an individual can go into. A teacher can have a powerful impact in a student’s live, both positive and negative. Teaching is one of the few careers that directly affect the future of our nation, and though this may be considered a cliché, the truth of the matter is that you may have a larger impact on children’s lives than some of their parents. You spend hours upon hours with your students, whereas busy or career-driven parents may not have the same opportunities. Becoming an educator is conducive to your home or family life, allows you to see the potential in students, and perhaps most notably, provides the opportunity for you to essentially mold lives within one short calendar year.…
