Mothers Against Drunk Driving or MADD was founded in 1980 by Candy Lighter, whose daughter was tragically killed by a drunk driver. MADD is an organization to help reduce drunk driving traffic fatalities. There are numerous anti drunk driving commercials out there, but I believe this on is the best, which is named Best MADD Anti DUI commercial ever on YouTube. It is the best because the organization’s use of ethos, pathos, and logos create an effective call to action for viewers to make more responsible choices.

The structure of the video starts by having different situations where people are having a wonderful time drinking either in a family get together or at a club. It suddenly transitions to minimal effects of driving under the influence that can occur to, the worst case scenario. Throughout the whole video, the emotions run very high not just as a victim or a victim’s family member but as a viewer as well. At a point of the video there is a woman on the ground, crying, holding her dead daughter that is where I lost it. I started to cry. You know when a video is effective when it moves you in a way where you can feel the pain of those people. To make it more emotional for me in the background the song Everybody Hurts by R.E.M is playing. I can feel the lyrics talking to me when it says, “Everybody hurts take comfort in your friends”, it makes me realize what if one day my best friend is a victim of a drink driver and who am I going to hurt with when she is not around. Equally important, I concluded that everybody in the victim's life hurts not just the victim itself, by seeing the victim go through therapy or seeing them in a coffin.
