Organizational capacity for change (OCC), is defined by William Judge is “those entrusted with authority within an organization must pursue results and build organizational capacity for change” (Judge Jr., 2012, p. 7). Therefore, it is the overall capability that helps, and organization prepare, manage, upgrade, and revise their existing processes in order to change for future growth and survival. When employees are not held accountable for their action in an organization will fail, and learning is not possible (Judge Jr., 2012, p. 87). An organization that has an innovative culture is one that values organizational change. Thus, “Creativity is the process of generating something new; while innovation is the application of creativity to a new product or service that has value” (Judge Jr., 2012, p. 99). Innovation goes way beyond responding to change. In other words, an organization that fosters a culture of innovation are aware that innovation and creativity comes from all. Therefore, all organizations should embrace in innovation culture because it can an increased productivity, morale, and employee engagement which is essential for an organization to be successful.
In summary, the eight dimensions of OCC are equally important to a business when implementing changes. When organizations do not embrace all the eight dimensions, it does not mean they will not succeed; it merely means that they will have a harder time getting others to buy into their change. Therefore, the more dimensions an organization implements in their change process, the easier that all within the organization will overcome and adapt to
