In the opening scene of 10 Cloverfield Lane the camera pans arounds a room to show it is an apartment were a woman looks distraught as she is franticly packing. The woman in this scene we later find out is named Michelle played by Mary Winstead. This whole scene the non-diegetic music helped to create a pancaking feeling, and the available lighting usage began to tell a story of certain objects located in the apartment that end up playing some major roles in the story further down the road. It is amazing how the available light, soft light, and hard lighting can have such a huge impact in this movie. By picking these certain techniques of lighting it help to play a role in creating certain emotions among actors without the use of words and influence the audiences to develop their own prospected with only minor persuasion of light usage displayed on the characters. Besides the lighting that is utilized throughout the entire movie to help to create a certain mood among the audience, the choice of non-diegetic music was just as intense in generating even more
