The films “The great Gatsby” as well as “Midnight in Paris” were directed to portray the vibe the directors wanted to carry all throughout the films with characters and music, taking inspiration from the novel “The great Gatsby”. The “midnight in Paris” took inspiration from the great Gatsby to help bring the film alive as well as the characters which were involved in it. Both films as well as the novel portrayed this loving couple that did anything to be together but at the end of the day that wasn’t enough to be together after all. There was always a character in the story that got in the way of their happiness. The main characters always seemed to live in the past instead of living in the present which was their mistake. Living in the past was a huge mistake, in their head they always thought about what it could’ve been and what it would’ve been which brought many problems? When I'm no longer young and beautiful?” The characters in the film that portrayed the characters in the novel were Leonardo DiCaprio interpreting Gatsby, Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan, and Nick Caraway interpreted by Tobey Maguire. The artists played well the part of these three main characters of the novel. They brought out the best or worst of them that helped tie the film together. Daisy represented a young beautiful women of an elite social class cousin with nick caraway. Nick moved to west egg not knowing he would ever become so close with Gatsby. Time passed and nick decided to help daisy and Gatsby reunite after 5 years “Almost five years! There must have been moments even that afternoon when Daisy tumbled short of his dreams”. All actresses do not have the same idea on how to interpret a character and at the end of the day, every single person added a unique touch to the characters to bring the film
