Uses of the partitive genitive
|
When genitive is used to indicate 'some', it is called the partitive genitive.
Some masculine nouns have special partitive genitive endings 'у' and 'ю'. (eg, сыр - сыру; сахар - сахару; чай - чаю) This form of the genitive may also be used with expressions denoting quanitity (eg. там много народу) |
