    The king was suppose to be essentially a god or at least an all powerful figure so killing a powerful and violent beast that could slay any one of his soldiers makes him seem all powerful. Assurbanipal through the slabs is the tallest of all the figures showed, to signify his power and authority over both his soldiers, his war horses, and the lions themselves, and even several times larger then the onlookers from the other registers. Since this is a hunt he is also always brandishing weapons and appears to be in both a crown and war gear to show that that he is not just royalty but a fierce fighter. Even in the last pannel where he gives the death blow to the final lion, we can see that he is still slightly taller then the beast and with that last blow he asserts his dominance over all nature and displays his power in front of his whole kingdom. Then we have Darius and Xerxes Reviving Tribute. Which is similar in some ways to the Lion Hunt but but different in others with a completely different feel and theme. The King, Darius, and his son, Xerxes, are still the tallest figures within the piece. Granting them the same ideals as it was with Assurbanipal, which were power and authority. Rather then an area with beasts, Darius is depicted sitting on his throne in his palace, with his son behind him. They have servants and guards behind them and what appears to be a merchant or a civilian before him. This depicts Darius as a ruler that listens to his people, that…
