Taking samples from the population. Not to be confused with re-sampling |

Sampling with Replacement |
Each unit can occur more than once in a sample If a unit is selected in the sampling process, then it remains in the list and could be selected again in the sampling process |

Sampling without Replacement |
Each unit in the sampling frame can only appear once in the sample, as in a simple random sample If a unit is selected in the sampling process, then it is removed from the list before the next selection for the sample is made |
