Led to them being independent and assertive such as questioning teachers' authority. Brought conflict with teachers as clashed with stereotype of ideal female identity - passive and submissive to authority. |

-Either gaining symbolic capital by hyper-heterosexual feminine identity. -Or gaining educational capital by rejecting working class identity and conforming to school's middle class notions of a respectable ideal female pupil. |
