Made up of duties and tasks |
Job |
Made up of a collection of duties, which in turn are each comprised of a cluster of tasks. |
What is a major part of a job, must be measurable, and involves a GROUP OF CLOSELY RELATED TASKS? |
Duty |
Made up of clusters of tasks |
What is a major part of a duty, performed in a RELATIVELY SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME, must be measurable |
Task |
An associated cluster of these make up a duty. |
What is developed from one or more DUTIES listed on the CTTL, is a LEARNING OBJECTIVE that the trainee will accomplish by THE END OF THE COURSE |
Terminal Objective |
What is developed from one or more TASKS listed on the CTTL, is a LEARNING OBJECTIVE that the trainee MAY accomplish at ANY POINT IN THE COURSE after receiving appropriate training? |
Enabling Objective |
What is the purpose of Instructional Media Materials (IMM)? |
Provide training for which formal schools have a LACK of EQUIPMENT, space, time, or instructors. Provide training that may be used for REMEDIAL OR ACCELERATED instruction. Provide PREREQUISITE training for advanced courses. FILL GAPS in TRAINING that occur within or between courses. Provide INSTRUCTION in SUBJECTS or SKILLS which are DIFFICULT to PRESENT in the LECTURE ENVIRONMENT or LABORATORY ENVIRONMENT. GENERATE/MAINTAIN TRAINEE INTEREST in a Lesson Topic. |
What is the Purpose of a testing program? |
To ENSURE a QUALITY TESTING PROCESS is implemented to EFFECTIVELY ASSESS the trainee's achievement of LEARNING OBJECTIVES. |
Quality testing process to access what? |
What is the primary course source data for creating test items? |
The Job Duty Task Analysis |
JDTA |
What type of test is graded and used in the calculation of the trainee's final grade? |
Formal |
What type of test may or may not be graded, but definitively will NOT be used in the calculation of the trainee's final grade? |
Informal |
What are the five categories for performance and knowledge tests? |
Pre-Test Progress Test Comprehensive Test Oral Test Quiz |
PPCOQ |
What type of test is administered at the beginning of a course (and often again at the end of the course to validate the material), may be used to determine a trainee's potential for acceleration through a course, or may be used to assess prerequisite skills and/or knowledge? |
Pre-Test |
What type of test is given to assess skill/knowledge learning objectives, and is normally administered for every 40-50 periods of instructional material? |
Progress Test |
What type of test is normally given at the END OF INSTRUCTION or AFTER LARGE BLOCKS OF INSTRUCTION in order to measure MASTERY OF THE CRITICAL OBJECTIVES or to measure RETENTION of previously test material? |
Comprehensive Test |
What type of test is administered normally by a board (panel of evaluators) in order to assess a trainee's comprehension, that should only be used with a small group of trainees, and cannot be given in spaces where others may be able to overhear questions and answers? |
Oral Test |
Ex: MTS Board, FMF Board |
What type of test is a short test used by instructors to assess achievement of recently taught material? |
Quiz |
What are the two types of testing method adopted by NMETC/NETC? |
Criterion-Referenced Test Norm-Referenced Test |
What is a Criterion-Referenced Test? |
A test that assesses trainees on a required level of knowledge or skill (cut score) to see whether the trainee has learned a specified amount of the material. |
Ex: A test used to establish a minimum passing score (no curve). |
What is a Norm-Referenced Test? |
A type of test that yields an estimate of the position of the tested trainee in a predefined population (a curve), with respect to a trait being measured. The importance is the relation to the group as much as the score achieved. |
Ex: Navy's Advancement Exams; Sorts trainees in relation to knowledge of material measured by the test or the skill being assessed. |
What are the three methods of remediation available to instructors? |
Targeted Scalable Iterative |
What is the type of remediation designed to assist the trainee who is having difficulty in accomplishing an objective(s) and/or understanding the material during normal classroom time? |
Targeted Remediation |
Involves limited one-on-one mentorship or SME engagement in the area the trainee is having difficulty with. |
What is the type of remediation that is designed to assist the trainee who is having difficulty in accomplishing an objective(s) and/or understanding the material for a MAJOR portion of a course, during normal classroom time? |
Scalable Remediation |
Requires more significant One on One mentorship from an SME to review each major objective area of deficiency. |
What type of remediation involves one on one mentorship or SME engagement of each major objective area of deficiency, by using a TOTAL RECALL APPROACH? |
Iterative Remediation |
To complete this remediation a trainee must complete a minimum 20 questions per objective area with a minimum score of 80 percent and/or successfully complete two practice exercises per objective area. |
What are the five options of the remediation program? |
Retest Setback Drop from training and attrites Counseling Academic Review Boards (ARBs) |
A Terminal Objective Is? |
Developed from one or more DUTIES listed on the CTTL, is a LEARNING OBJECTIVE that the trainee will accomplish by THE END OF THE COURSE |
An Enabling Objective is? |
Developed from one or more TASKS listed on the CTTL, is a LEARNING OBJECTIVE that the trainee MAY accomplish at ANY POINT IN THE COURSE after receiving appropriate training |
