Explain what is meant by major non-conformity |
A major non-conformity is an identifiable deviation which poses a serious threat to the safety of personnel, the ship or the environment. They require immediate corrective action and precludes effective and systematic implementation of a requirement of the ISM code. e.g. structural damage to a lifeboat/steering motor failure |

Explain what is meant by non-conformity |
A non-conformity means an observed situation where objective evidence indicates the non-fulfilment of a specified requirement of the ISM code. Non-conformity should normally be closed within three months of being identified |
