Despite wilson being one of the main inspos of the LON, america refused to join. This was because a majority of the american senate thought the Lon would drag america into future wars and disputes. Americas Absence was a huge blow to the prospects of the league as america was the world's most powerful, influential, and wealthy country. The Leagues ability to take action against aggressive countries would be much reduced and the general prestige of the league would be significantly reduced. |

Was not allowed to join league until demonstrated its peaceful intentions This made the league look like a club for the victorious powers associated w the treaty of versailles. Germany was allowed to join in 1926 and became a permanent member of council. Adolf hitler took Germany out of the league in 1933. |

Unanimous decisions appear obvious obstructions to the work of the league but the unanimous decision requirement was quite deliberate The intention was to prevent the league from being dominated by the most important countries with major world influence By requiring unanimous decisions all countries had an equal say in the league this meant that a country like belgium had to be treated with the same respect as a country like france |
