When raising aerial ladders and tower ladder buckets, maintain an 18ft safe clearance horizontally from the substation exterior fence. Transmission substations receive 345,000 volts from generating stations and then step it down to 138,000 volts for delivery to distribution substations.

There are 10 stations within the airtrain system. 6 stations are located within the central terminal area, and service the 8 existing terminals. 1-4 cars Each car can carry up to 200 passengers. Normally travel at 2-4 min intervals during peak hours. Can reach speeds of 70 MPH There may be as many as 16 Airtrain running at any given time. Every train has 4 sets of passenger doors. 2 on each side. Center walkway located between the two tracks are 5 1/2 ft wide. Side walkway are located outside of track area are 2 1/2 ft wide. Side walkways will also be provided with approximately 3 foot heigh handrails. Airtrain transverses a tunnel on the grounds of jfk that is 1500ft long. Blue light power removal boxes are located every 800ft along the guideway a RED power removal button inside. The AirTrain is powered by a Third rail power system 750 volts DC. Members must always step over this and not on it. |
