Mid-clavicular line, 2nd intercostal space

On the side, between the 4th and 5th intercostal space
4 types of oxygen delivery methods at O2 percentage and L
NC: 1 to 6 L, 24-44%

BVM: 15 L or more, >90% O2 (not breathing)

Resuscitation mask: 6-15 L, 25-55% (not breathing)

Non-breather mask: 10-15 L, >90%
PROPER CRP ratio for infant, child, adult
One responder: 30:2

Two responder child and infant: 15:2
What should you do if the child is too small for the AED pads?
One pad in middle of chest and other pad between should blades - pads can NEVER touch!

1. Check for consciousness
2. Open airway and check for breathing
3. Give 2 slow breaths
4. Check for circulation/severe bleeding
5. Begin CPR 30:2
s/s of heat stroke?
> 104 deg
flushed, red skin (dry or moist)
rapid, weak pulse
shallow breathing
low BP
decreasing LOC
lack of sweating (BIG difference between heat stroke and heat exhaustion)
How to tell how far away lightning is?
every 5 seconds between a flash of lightning and the sound of thunder equals 1 mile
What combination of environmental factors affects body temperature?
Cold = temperature and wind chill

Hot = temperature and humidity

Look at charts for risk of heat/cold illness to determine this
How to handle a tooth that has been displaced?
1. Handle by crown
2. rinse under water
3. place in milk (or clean water if not available)

Do not try to put back in mouth
How to remove helmet
1. One responder maintains stabilization
2. cut chin strap, shoulder pad, jersey
3. Remove internal cheek pads
4. deflate air bladder
5. Remove helmet
6. Immediately remove shoulder pads
