GROUND EVACUATION
A. Notify crew/passengers to evacuate airplane
a) Crew only - Primary exit - crew entrance door
Secondary exit - any available exit
b) Crew/passengers - As Briefed
Abandon airplane signal - 1 long ring on alarm
c) Chock airplane if time and conditions
d) Wheel well fire/hot brakes - Chock nose gear only
e) Evacuate to at least 300 feet from the airplane as briefed. (600 feet if flares and markers are loaded on the aircraft)
BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE
A. The auxiliary hydraulic system hand pump may be used for stopping the airplane in an emergency by:
1. Holding the brake pedals down
2. Operating the hand pump
FUSELAGE FIRE/SMOKE AND FUME ELIMINATION
A. If a fire, smoke, or fumes develop in the fuselage, electrical equipment should not be turned on or off until the fumes are eliminated. Once noticed, notify the crew and passengers and proceed as follows
1. OXYGEN "ON,100%" ALL
Note: Fight fire as required
Warning: Forward escape hatch must be opened to effectively eliminate smoke and fumes.
Step 2-7 accomplished by other crew members.
8. Paratroop doors "OPEN" on command of pilot.
a) Loadmaster will wear a restraint harness
b) Life line attached
c) Flight station overhead hatch must be opened first by flight engineer
d) if paratroop doors cannot be opened due to fire/smoke/fumes, an attempt should be made to use another opening
IN-FLIGHT DOOR WARNING
A. When the warning light illuminates proceed as follows:
1. Acknowledge or notify crew
2. Notify passengers (fasten seat belt)
3. Fasten seat belt
4. Oxygen (as required)
IN-FLIGHT RELEASE OF LIFERAFT
A. if the in-flight release of a life raft is indicated:
1. Pilot will lower flaps
2. A crewmember will scan the life raft inspection windows to determine the presence of liferafts
RAPID DECOMPRESSION
A. If a rapid decompression occurs proceed as follows:
1. OXYGEN "ON,100%" ALL
2. Seat belts (As required) (ALL)
HYDRAULIC SYSTEM FAILURE
A, If pressure loss is indicated or if an engine-driven pump failure is suspected:
1. Check reservoir levels
2. Scan units being supplied by the malfunctioning system
EMERGENCY HYDRAULIC EXTENSION (NOSE GEAR)
A. Nose gear emergency extension valve - NLG EMER EXT position (valve located approx. FS 260 left side)
B. Operate auxiliary hydraulic pump or hand pump
MAIN LANDING GEAR TIEDOWN
A, Primary method (both sets of struts)

6-25,000LB. Chains 2-25,000LB. Devices

B. Secondary method (both sets of struts)

C. Emergency tiedown fixtures (If available, may be used in lieu of tiedown chains and devices)

CARGO DOOR AND RAMP SYSTEM FAILURE


A. To release the cargo door after normal procedures have failed proceed as follows:
1. Pull the cargo door uplock manual release lever forward and down
2. After the door free falls, proceed with normal closing procedures
B. In event ramp locks fail to lock the ramp in the closed pos, proceed as follows:
1. Check the fluid level in the aux hydro sys reservoir
2. If low find leak and isolate
3. If normal, turn aux hydro pump off (direct front end crew to turn pump off)
4. Rotate the ramp control knob clockwise to 4
5. Turn pump on to ensure ramp is closed
6. Turn pump off
7. Rotate the knob to 5, turn pump on
8. If locks engage and light goes out, turn aux pump off
9. Rotate control knob to 6N and continue mission
10. If ramp locks still fail to engage, rotate know to position 4 operate handpump until gauge reads appx 4,100
11. Rotate knob to 5 operate handpump to approx 4,100
12. If ramp locks still fail to lock, ensure aux pump is off rotate knob to 4 and turn pump on for the rest of flight do not pressurize
CARGO JETTISON (PALLETIZED)
A. Acknowledge the pilots order to prepare for jettisoning and proceed as follows:
1. Ramp Pallet
1. Remove all restraint securing load to ramp floor
2. Open aft cargo door from aft control
3. Station one crewmember, if available, at each of the two ramp release handles
4. Lower cargo ramp from aft control
5. Notify pilot ready to jettison
6. Pull left and right release handles on the command of pilot
7. Notify pilot "load clear" or condition
CARGO JETTISON (PALLETIZED)
1. Pallets on cargo floor
1. Remove all restraint securing load to cargo floor (to include vertical restraint flanges)
2. Proceed to the left and right hand master controls
3. Notify pilot the lead is ready to jettison
4. Pull right hand emergency release to EMRG pos
5. Unlock left hand locks (single or all at once) on the command of pilot
6. Notify pilot "load clear" or condition
7. Remaining pallets may be jettisoned by repeating steps 5 and 6
BAILOUT PROCEDURES
1. Don exposure suit (as required)
2. Don life jacket (as required), parachute, helmet and gloves
3. Open selected bailout exit
4. Evacuate aircraft upon hearing signal
A. Signals
1.Prepare to abandon airplane: Three short rings Bailout: One long ring
B. Bailout exits:
1Cargo door and ramp
2. Paratroop doors
3. Crew entrance door
C. Restrictions
1. Cargo door only above 150 knots
2. Paratroop doors below 150 knots with air deflector doors open
3. Crew entrance door below 150 knots and gear up
LANDING GEAR RETRACTED
A. Signals:
1. Immediately after takeoff ONE LONG RING
2. Crash landing imminent SIX SHORT RINGS
3. Brace for impact ONE LONG RING
B. Nose gear retracted, Main gear down
1. Brief pax as req.
2. Shift cargo to aft most CG computed for A/C gross weight
3. Stow or secure all loose equipment
4. Open and secure forward, center, and aft overhead hatches and troop doors (wear and attach harness)
5. Turn off all unnecessary electrical equipment
6. Don helmet and gloves, take crash position (pax behind cargo)
7. When A/C has come to a complete stop, perform ground evac procedures
GEAR UP LANDING
1. Brief pax as required
2. Stow or secure all loose equipment
3. Consider jettisoning of cargo
4. Open and secure forward, center, and aft overhead hatches and troop doors (wear and attach harness)
5 Turn off all unnecessary electrical equipment
6. Don helmet and gloves, take crash position (pax behind cargo)
7. When airplane has come to a complete stop perform ground evacuation
LOOSE CARGO
A: On takeoff roll, prior to crewmember saying "GO", call "REJECT LOAD"
B: After the "GO" call, Notify pilot, "LOOSE CARGO" secure and means available
LOOSE CARGO IN FLIGHT
A. Notify pilot
B. Secure cargo to prevent further movement.
C. Determind Airplane CG
D. If in limits, secure for landing
E. If not in limits, shift and secure cargo to achieve acceptable CG limits
F. Notify pilot cargo compartment is secure
DITCHING

"acknowledge pilots order then
refer to ditching checklist."
A. Signals:
1. Prepare for ditching SIX SHORT RINGS
2. Brace for impact ONE LONG RING
B. First action:
1. Acknowledge pilots order to prepare for ditching
2. Brief pax for ditching
3. Jettison cargo as directed by pilot
4. Close all doors and hatches remove and stow cargo compartment overhead escape hatches.
5. Secure loose articles
6. Don anti-exposure suit and life vest
C. Ditching imminent (10 minutes left) :
1. Turn on emergency exit lights
2. Check passengers (behind cargo if possible)
3. Extend emergency escape rope to nearest passenger to assist reaching the escape hatch
4. Fasten seat belt (troop seat fwd right paratroop door
5. Notify pilot "CABIN SECURE"
D Provide:
1. Flashlight
2. First-Aid Kit
3. Water coolers
E After ditching - *All crew members will check each other for injury and render assistance as possible (buddy check)
1. Pull liferaft release handles
2. Ensure pax have exited
3. Exit aft/center hatch & inflate life vest
