the large scale long-term shift in planets weather patterns or average temperatures. Earth has had tropical climates and ice ages many times in its 4.5 billion years

Global Warming

a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the Earth's atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by the increase of CO2 + CFCs and other pollutants
