Cerebrum is made up of |
The cerebral cortex, a thin out layer of grey matter the part that does the process A thicker inner layer of white matter, (the axons fetching and carrying info) Basal ganglia small masses of grey matter, deep inside the white matter. |
The four lobes of the cerebrum: frontal lobe, parietal lobe, wall temporal temple, occipital lobes means back. |
The lobes are divided from each other by sulci: the central sulcus, lateral side sulcus and parieto-occipital sulcus. |
Four part of the brain cerebrum, diencephalon, cerebrum, brainstem |
Cerebrum (function) |
Frontal lobe Voluntary control of movement Speech Common integration Parietal lobe Receive body sensations Taste Understanding language Temporal lobe Hearing Understanding speech Smell Common integration Occipital lobe Vision |
Function of the cerebrum? Thinking |
It is responsible for conscious thought Allow us to remember Understand language to speak Read, and write to estimate calculate, composed music Engage in what if thought allow us to try out possible future to see what would happen which has now extended to what we call creativity. It also give us conscious awareness of our body from the input from our sensors, and allow us to initiate voluntary movement. Link with diencephalon the cerebrum also process emotions |
Cerebrum function |
The cerebrum is the sum of who we think we are I.e our intellect, personality, experiences and learned responses to others, memories and judgements,, our conscious and the things we consciously decide to do all come from the cerebrum |
Cerebrum |
The cerebrum is the part just under the skull, so it is particularly vulnerable to injury that penetrates the skull resulting in all sort of weird effects |
Cerebrum - The activities of the cerebrum can be summarized as one of 3 things |
Sensory receiving and processing sensation Integration/association interpreting, integrating info, thinking, planning, deciding, integrating action, programming action Motor processing and initiating responses |
Diencephalon structure and function found on top of brainstem, surrounded by cerebrum above it. It produces hormones and glands. |
The thalamus and limbic system are higher of the two green area of diagram The hypothalamus is the lower one The two glands are the pineal gland functions to set human biological clock and the pituitary gland. |
Diencephalon function |
Thalamus limbic system producing involuntary emotions, animal survival, memory. Relay station for sensory and motor impulses. Hypothalamus control pituitary gland and production/release of hormones. Regulates body temp by controlling coordinated adjustments in blood flow and sweat gland activity |
