Alignment
A technical term used in dancing referring to the position of the feet in a forward or backwards step when the feet should be perfectly in line and turned neither in nor out and with the inside of each foot touching an imaginary line drawn through the middle of the body. The term can also be used to refer to the direction of the directional line of some part of the figure.
Balance
The correct distribution of the weight of the body when moving through space while remaining on time to the music.
Body Placement
where the weight of the body is placed at any given moment.
Cuban Motion
A technical term used in the Latin/Rhythm dances. The motion takes place in the knees and not in the hips.
Follow
The ability to respond quickly to a partner's lead and not anticipate it.
Lead
The ability to direct one's partner around the floor in time to music

The direction of progress around the dance floor (CCW)
Promenade Position
The position in which the man's right side and the woman's left side are kept in close contact. The opposite sides of the bodies turned out to form a "V" shape. The feet are usually turned in the same direction as the body.
