How and why did the Nazis intimidate people into supporting them?

They used concentration camps to imprison people who went against the Nazi state. (Run by the SS)


The Gestapo (secret police) spied on people. Anyone not loyal to the Nazis were taken in the middle of the night for torture or concentration camps.


Hitler youth expected to spy and report on friends and families.


The Nazis did this to retain power.

What did Hitler want young people to become an how did he do this?

He wanted them to become the perfect Nazis by indoctrinating them. This involved Hitler youth movements (which became compulsory in 1939) and education.

How did Hitler use the youth movements to indoctrinate young people in Germany?

He trained the boys to be soldiers teaching them marching, camping, weapons training and fitness training. He taught the girls how to be mothers teaching them domestic training and fitness training. Both groups trained in total loyalty to Hitler: reading Mein Kampf, saluting the swastika, singing Nazi songs and reporting on "anti-nazis"
