Positive Role Model

Because I am a captain of two activities, I work very hard to be a leader. In cross country, I help lead practices and activities. In chemistry club, I plan and lead activities to ensure safety. I really have developed my leadership goals throughout my time as a captain. In cross country, I have learned how to be a positive role model for my team. I need to make sure I use good sportsmanship to the members of my team and other teams. One way I do this is by cheering on everyone at a meet. I want to make sure everyone feels like they are encouraged because on days when running is especially hard, it really helps to hear someone cheering for you. I have also been a role model for members of my team by training hard. I have, for the past two …show more content…
Some people didn’t know if it was serious or not so I talked to my coach. I wanted to make sure cross country was a positive place and experience for everyone. When I talked to my coach, I asked her if she wanted me to talk to the varsity team the next day when she was gone. After I talked to the other members, we felt like we were closer. This action proved that I am willing to be a leader on my team. This year I was involved in planning the annual blood drive for my school. This activity was time consuming as it involved a lot of planning. I knew that I had to work hard in order for the event to be a success. I also had to utilize some of my leadership skills in order to make the event happen. When I talked to my school’s National Honor Society, I told them why we need people to help us. On the day of the event, I made sure everyone was helping and that everyone felt like they were helpful for the cause.
I also demonstrate leadership qualities in Girl Scouts. Through Girl Scouts, I have volunteered at day camp. At camp, I helped lead girls in activities and make sure that they were comfortable. I also demonstrated teamwork by working with all of the other volunteers to make sure that the camp was a success. Volunteering at day camp helped me improve my leadership

I was a dance captain for eight years throughout middle school and high school, which has shaped the leader and person I am today. Teaching a variety of people from different ages and backgrounds has given me the ability to understand others and communicate with different audiences. Furthermore, I learned what being a leader means when I got the chance to know my team, especially in their times of nervousness at competitions. For example, I prayed with my team before we competed when I sensed their anxiety, and I always encouraged them to do their best, which helped them be at peace. By demonstrating my compassion towards them, my relationship grew with my team not just as a leader, but also as a friend.…

When I look back on how I became the person that I am today, I think of all the people, activities, and opportunities that molded me and helped me become successful leader. One activity in my community that has really helped me develop into a leader was when we held our youth basketball clinics each year. These clinics were every Saturday from 8am to noon for two months during the school year. The high school basketball players helped run the clinics, but it was not mandatory for us to go. I went to all of these clinics because I found out just how important it was to give back to the community which had gave so much to me.…

During this period, I taught things like race strategy, what perfect form is, better nutrition, and a complete lifting program. All things that make someone a great runner.…

I have been apart of volleyball, track, and softball my whole high school career. In volleyball I have always been a leader out on the court or off the court as a mellow leader. Every year in volleyball the seniors are the ones that are forced to bond with the whole team, but this year we had a new coach who changed the rules from what we were used to. The other senior and I took it into our own hands to make this season fun, since no one was sure how it would turn out. So I invited the whole 9-12 volleyball team over to my house after a practice during the summer to have a big sleepover; it went very well and we were the closest team that I have ever been a part of or seen.…

There is nothing I enjoy more than waking up on a cool saturday morning in preparation for a cross country meet. Sports have always been a big part of my daily life, but I never imagined that cross country would have such an immense impact on my way of living. I had never even thought about pursuing distance running until my friend, Jared, tried to convince me to join the cross country team in 7th grade. At that time, the thought of running for long periods of time did not seem appealing to me. At first, I did not even consider this notion, but with a couple days of persuasion, I decided that I would give it a try.…

One time that leadership has applied to me was last year when I was given the opportunity to play defense for my high school football team. I was blessed to start the whole year and lead our team to the school’s first state championship victory. The team respected me and what I told them whether it was focusing on doing better in the classroom or preparing for the next opponent. However, being a leader comes with responsibilities and duties that others aren’t willing to accept..…
