I advocated for aid and assistance for one of the veterans who is unable to do her activities of daily living. As a result, my supervisor was able to email her providers who are attempting to get the ball rolling on her case, which has been at a standstill for over a year. What I gather from my conversation with these two young women bring me to my negative highlight of the week. In my opinion, the VA does not have adequate staff to serve the needs of all the veterans. One of the complaints from the veteran in which I advocated for was that her doctor was the hold up in getting her case processed. She also referred to the doctor as “speedy” because she stated she sped in to see her at her primary care visit and sped out. She felt the doctor did not take the necessary time to hear her concerns.
