Job vs Career In today's society, many people do not recognize the difference between a job and a career. A jobs should be used differently than a career in different parts of everyone's lives. Having a job should not be the main goal for the rest of someone’s life. The main purpose a job should be to help transition someone into a stable career, so they can advance themselves in life.
A job is a type of work consisting of low-skilled tasks that allow workers to make low income. Jobs are generally designed for short-term worker, as many go on to find new jobs or careers. Most careers are spots in a company that requires a highly qualified worker. These spots are highly sought over, and many skilled candidates will compete for the same position. The reason why these positions are popular is because they allow workers to progress. Many young adults that just graduated from college aim to find a career with the skills they have recently learned. Allowing the ability to progress while working is a major aspect of a career. Many people join a company at a beginning level and decent pay. After many years of experience they are able to apply for higher positions in the company and make more money. Having a career allows someone to constantly improve their craft, and be rewarded for their dedication of perfecting their skills. A career not only offers a higher salary, but also comes with many perks and benefits. An example of a career is a software engineer. Anyone pursuing this career will usually go to college to learn the specialized skills that they need. After acquiring a position, they will gain more skills that make them more valuable to the company over time. This allows them to obtain raises and apply for higher positions.
