In terms of confidentiality, all information obtained during the process of career counselling needs to remain confidential between the client themselves and the career counsellor. Only in exceptional circumstances such as a request from the court of law may this confidential information be divulged. The client may also provide informed consent for their information to be disclosed.
The ethical use of assessments is important in Jennifer’s case, especially in terms of using classified assessments that are deemed to be valid and reliable. The career counsellor also needs to be accredited on the use of the specific instruments should he/she wish to interpret them and integrate them into a feedback report for Jennifer.
