In this quote there are hunters tracking Kino and his family down and Kino is going on a life or death mission to try to take them out while they rest in the night. He is willing to risk his life for them. That shows so much compassion. The short story “The pearl” by John Steinbeck, shows many life lessons and trials that Kino and his family had to go through for just a pearl. It shows how a family can love each other at one point and then totally be opposite and “hate” each other at another point.
