Chapter 14: Blame Game “Make a list of people who ruined your life or did you wrong.” Was it your parents? Your teachers? Your best friend? Your third cousin? Your brother? Put it down on a list. If that does not satisfy you. Write a detailed story about everyone, as to how you were wronged in exact detail. There is no limitation of pages. Put it all down right now. I did a similar exercise as part of landmark forum, Mumbai. Let me tell you how it works. Once your entire story is on paper read…
"A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles." - Christopher Reeve. You may think of heroes as people in movies with superpower and capes who can fly, but as you'll find out, that isn't the case at all. A hero can be any common person put in an uncommonly difficult situation. Heroes can be the people you see when you're walking down the road, whom you pay no attention to, they could be your neighbor, who you wave at every…
Chirp chirp is all I said the day that I turned into a bird.It is a very simple story depending on how you look at it. One day I was walking home from school and I did what I usually did. The next day I woke up as a bird and I had no idea what happened. Then my mom came inside and I was just staring at her not knowing what to do. She then looked around to see where I was and when she was done looking she got a stick and started chasing me around with it, my mom continued until I ran out the…
Life in rural 20th century Vermont was a frontier. A place filled with dense wilderness, and packed with wildlife. There was no cities, and barely even towns holding more than a couple hundred people. You had to work for everything you wanted and how hard life really was in Vermont. Howard Frank Mosher did an incredible job depicting this time in his collection of short stories including Where the Rivers Flow North. This theme is found throughout the novella, and it is the underlying message.…
“Bobette stormed over to Galen and Ethel’s house, and burst in their front door screaming that if either of them touched one of those Lacks children again, she’d kill them herself” (Skloot, 115). This was the first time the Lacks children were truly stood up for, at least since their mother passed. For too many years, Deborah, Sonny, and Joe were harassed, abused and neglected. They were voiceless and they had no one to look up to. Until Bobette came into their lives, and with open arms she gave…
The Blast I was watching tv when the room went pitch black. I had to start feeling my way around and I was tripping and falling. I forgot, I had a phone in my pocket. The lights randomly came back on, then I saw my parents on the floor twitching. They were not saying anything. Then all the lights came back on and I called 911. Nobody answered! I tried a again but nobody answered. I called my friend. He picked up and I told him what happened. He said the same thing had happened to his parents.…
“Get your worthless asses back to work!” Coach McHemingway yelled at the Fairly Middle Tails. How good were they? Eh, fairly middle. Leopold sat on the bleachers, watching the rest of the middle schoolers scramble back onto the field. There was always something about the rest of the kids at Fairly Middle, Leopold just couldn’t put his finger on what that “something” was. They’ve always had an uneasy air of bloodlust just fluttering about them, fluttering around and around in circles until that…
To define love, it is an intense feeling of deep affection. The love between two people should always be conditional. You can fall out of love as easily as it is to fall in love. Conditional love and unconditional love are two ways a person can show their love to one another. Conditional love can be earned by gaining loyalty and trust in another person. When you express conditional love, you love the person because of how they treat you and love you. Unconditional love is being able to love…
I have two very beautiful daughters. When I look at them my heart skips a beat. How could I be so lucky to be their mommy? I would do anything for my girls. I’d walk through fire for them. Yet I know I cannot protect them from the world. I can only shield them from danger and prepare them to function in the real world. I think Siddhartha Gautama had a father like me. He loved his son and tried his hardest to protect him from the world outside the palace walls. Unfortunately, he was doing his son…
