Social learning theory Albert bandura |
Suggests that children will copy and take on characteristics of their parents if parents are happy outgoing and friendly children will be more likely to develop similar characteristics |
|
Attachment Theory |
Suggest that children's main need is to have a strong and stable relationship with their primary caregiver - usually parents -their ability to develop and relate to others is dependent on how secure their relationship is -as long as a close relationship exists with someone their social and emotional development will be secure - bonding essential - once bond is built the child will want to stay close to them and may suffer separation anxiety if the adult leaves (upset or distress because they think that I don't will not come back) -need to form several attachments for successful social and emotional development |
|
The psychoanalytic theory |
Believe that children's personalities and behavior are shaped both consciously and unconsciously by their experiences at different stages of the development and how they cope with the experiences |
