Cycle of life and death The trees are coming into leaf - beginning, spring, growth renewal Recent buds relax and spread - suggests future life and growth, unfolding Their greeness is a kind of grief - 'gr' alliteration and assonance draws ironic words together, cycle of life and death, inevitably of death, human mortality Is it that they are born again and we grow old?
