Slow flight ?
- CCMALS
- Visual refrence point note with heading 1500 Rpm Below 85 - full flaps mintain altitude and heading as airspeed decreases to stall horn or 35 kts add 200 rpm to hold slow flight - Stay coordinated - Pitch for airspeed/power for altitude Recover: 1. full power 2. retract 1st notch of flaps 3. maintain altitude 4. once vx established retract full flaps. |
Power off stall ?
1. pre-manuver checklist
2. elect visual point outside 3. reduce power to 1500 rpm & maintain altitude trim 4. below Vfe extend full flaps * right rudder increased as A/S decreases * stay coordinated 5. at Vg decend at 500 fpm until hardeck 6. at hardeck power idle & increase back pressure or hold off until stall. (announce stall horn, buffet and stall. Recovery: 1. reduce angle of attack, full power maintain heading 2. retract flaps first notch and pitch for horizon 3. positive rate 2nd notch 4. climb out to Vy retract final flaps 5. at Vy level off cruise settings |
Power On Stall ?
1. pre manuver checklst
2. select visual point outside set heading 3. power 1500 rpm & hold altitude trim * right rudder increased as A/S decreases * stay coordinated 4. as airplane approaches Vr, full power pitch up to induce the stall 5. announce indications stall horn, buffet, stall. recovery: 1. reduce the angle of attack to break stall & maintain heading 2. pitch to the horizon pitch for Vy 3. At Vy level off and go to cruise |
Steep Turns ?
- CCMALS
- visual reference point & cross check with heading - below Va which is 99 - 45 left bak - pass 30 add 200 rpm - 2 down swipes on trim - lead roll out by half, bank angle - then one right |
Rectangular course ?
- pre-manuver check
- select ground reference points - Airspeed 90 kts - determine where winds are coming from - altitude between 600ft and 1000ft AGL 1. enter on the 45 downwind 2. abeam the base leg ref. point turn base (steepest turn & establish wind correction) 3. Abeam upwind ref. point turn upwind (shallower than base turn) 4. once abeam crosswind ref. point turn crosswind leg (this will be the shallowest turn) 5. abeam downwind ref point turn down wind (will be shallow but will steepen as turn continues) |
Turns around a point ?
- Pre maneuver check
- select ground ref. point - Alt 600ft to 1000ft - Airspeed 90 kts 1. Enter on the downwind about 1/2 radius 2. abeam the point bank 30 - 45 degrees towards point begin constant radius turn. 3. 1st turn will be the steepest turn with highest ground speed as wind pushes you from ref. point. 4. as the turn progresses into the second half of turn reduce bank angle to more shallow of a turn cause wind is pushing you towards the ref. point. |
S - turns ?
- pre maneuver checklist
- select straight road as ref point - Altitude 600 ft to 1000 ft AGL - Airspeed 90 kts 1. enter with direct tail wind 2. as you cross road start a 30 - 45 degree bank towards ref point. 3. First part of the S will be the steepest turn with highest ground speed 4. roll wings level over the road 5. then turn for the second half of the S this will be the shallowest as ground speed is slowest. |
Emergency decent ?
pre maneuver check
Power - Idle Below 110 - 1st notch Below 85 - 2nd & 3rd notch Bank - 30 to 45 degrees left and right Airspeed - 80kts Recover - retract flaps cruse it out |
Emergency Landing ?
Airspeed - 60
Best place to land checklist Mixture - full Throttle - set carb heat - on fuel pump - on Primer - in and locked Ignition switch - left, right, both Fuel selector - both Carb heat - off secure checklist 1. mixture - cut off 2. carb heat - off 3. fuel pump - off 4. ignition - off 5. master - off 6. fuel selector - off 7. carb heat - off Rectangular course over field use flaps as needed 121.5 distress cal 7700 |
Forwards slip ?
- power idle
- dip wing into wind - opposite rudder - 60 kts |
Flapless landing ?
- abeam touchdown point 1300 rpm
- no flaps - on final 60 |
Normal / x-wind landing ?
x wind turn - 1500
pattern altitude - 1800 before midfield - 85 kts / before land checklist abeam touchdown point - 1500 rpm / 10 flaps / 80 kts Base - 20 flaps / 70 kts Final - 30 flaps / 60 kts - x wind on final use wing low method (dip wing into wind, opposite rudder enough to stay on centerline) |
Soft field landing ?
- Before land check list (before mid field downwind)
- abeam touch down 1500 rpm, 10 flaps. - trim for 80 kts - base 20 flaps, 70 - final 30 flaps, 54 kts - before touch down bump 100 rpm to hold nose of the ground longer. |
short field landing ?
- Before land check list (before mid field downwind)
- abeam touch down 1500 rpm, 10 flaps. - trim for 80 kts - base 20 flaps, 70 kts - final 30 flaps, 54 kts - aim 3 stripes back from touchdown point |
Go around ?
- full power
- wings level - retract first notch - positive rate - retract 2nd notch - at Vy retract last notch |
Normal Take off ? x- wind ?
- on take off roll apply proper x wind correction into the wind.
- reduce as lift of occurs. - feet off brakes - full power - 50 rotate - right rudder - pitch for Vy 67 - climb check list |
Short field T/O ?
- 10 degree flaps
- hold on runway with brakes - full power - engine in the green - release brakes rotate at 50 kts - climb over 50 ft obstacle - then Vy - climb checklist |
Soft field T/O ?
- flaps as required
- hold full back pressure on yoke - full power - no brakes, just rudder - as it come of ground nose over into ground effect - at Vy start climb out - climb check list |
