What does the Rectus Abdominus do? |
Flexes lumbar and lower thoracic portion of vertebral column
Origin: Synphysis pubis and pubic crest
Insertion: Cartliage of 5th and 7th ribs, xiphoid process of sternum |

Compress the ribs and viscera, providing and pelvic stability Origin: inner surface of cartilage of lower six ribs, lumbar fascia and the iliac crest Insertion: inserts into the linea alba behind the rectus abdominus
