Perform Hover Power Check: Procedure, torque differentials
Near intended takeoff point, in direction of takeoff, at established 3 ft hover.
Less than 5% torque differential: Ensure adequate room exists for takeoff with minimum or existing power. Destination must allow normal or shallower-than-normal approach to landing areas with a surface, which will permit a descent to the ground, if necessary. 5 - 9 % torque differential: Normal approaches/ takeoffs may be performed. 10 - 14% torque differential. Steep approaches/ instrument takeoffs may be performed. 15% or more torque differential: No takeoff/ landing restrictions. |
Perform Hover Power Check: Tasks not allowed with less than 15% torque differential.
Terrain flight takeoff, terrain flight (NOE only), Terrain flight approach, terrain flight deceleration (NOE only), pinnacle/ridge line operations, combat position operations, masking/unmasking.
*Can perform tasks if an OGE hover power check was successfully completed. |
Perform Hover Power check: When Additional hover power checks must be performed.
Environmental conditions increase by:
5° C 500 ft PA 200 lbs aircraft weight |
Normal Takeoff: Standards.
1. Heading +/- 10 deg
2. Ground track. 3. In trim above 50 ft. 4. Accelerate through desired airspeed +/- 10 kts. 5. Rate of climb +/- 100 fpm. 6. Takeoff power until reaching desired airspeed. |
VMC Approach: Standards.
1. Select altitude to clear obstacles
2. Altitude +/-100 ft. 3. Entry airspeed +/- 10 KIAS. 4. Heading and ground track +/- 10 deg. |
Perform Instrument Takeoff Standards
1. Confirm adequate power margin exists IAW the hover power check to perform the maneuver.
2. Set or confirm the attitude indicator is approx. 4 degrees high. 3. Maintain established takeoff power +/-2 percent mast torque once set. 4. Maintain accelerative climb attitude +/- 1 bar width once established. 5. Maintain Takeoff heading +/- degrees. 6. Maintain aircraft in trim after passing through ETL. |
Perform Non-Precision Approach(Ground-Controlled Approach)
1. Perform the approach per AR 95-1, FM 3-04.240, and DOD FLIP.
2. Maintain desired and directed airspeed +/-10 KIAS. 3. Maintain assigned altitude +/- 100 feet. 4. Maintain heading +/-5 degrees. 5. Make immediate corrections issued by ATC. 6.Comply with descent minimums prescribed for the approach. 7.Execute the correct missed approach procedure immediately upon reaching the missed approach point(MAP) if a landing cannot be accomplished. |
