What are the arguments against the theory that Jesus Christ did not actually die on the cross, but that the cool air of the tomb and the spices revived Him from an unconscious state?
|
(see section 3.5, text page 134-135)
Some of the arguments against the theory that Jesus did not actually die were the soldiers, Joseph, and Nicodemus testified to his death, victims of a crucifixion seldom recovered, even under the most favorable of circumstances of burial, weak, anemic appearance to His disciples would not have inspired their worship as it did. The most important argument was it would make Jesus a wicked liar, but if he survived, then when and where did he die? Last but not least, was the chief priest and Pharisees, fearing such a deception, would have surely confirmed his death. |
