For years, Trans fat was viewed as bad for your health, which has lead the government to step in and look at limiting trans-fat consumption. Although there are many different types of fats in the food we consume, you should be aware of Trans-fats because of the effects they have on your body. I think it is especially important for young adults who have the option of preventing health problems to be aware of such things. Walter Willett claims, “Trans-fats are secret killers” (para. 7). The Food and Drug Administration released a statement supporting this theory stating, “There is no evidence that Trans-fats are safe for human consumption” (para. 9). After extensive research, the FDA issued a ban on Trans-fat within the next three years. Although this is a good idea for our health, I assume food manufactures will replace Trans-fats with equally unhealthy ingredients, or leaving them out altogether. I think this will compromise the taste and texture of the foods we eat.
